Abstract

The liquid level detector for cooling water and windscreen washer systems in motor vehicles comprises a detector circuit (24) which can be connected to either main cooling water reservoir detector (40) or windscreen washer reservoir detector (38). This latter operates in conjunction with a further probe (42) connected to earth. The main reservoir being metal is directly connected to earth. The detector circuit is normally connected to the main reservoir when the ignition switch is closed (14) so that this measurement is displayed (34). On operating the windscreen wiper, and thus the washer pump motor (20), a relay switches the monitor circuit to the washer reservoir probe.
