Abstract

The reversible drive is esp. for a ratchet spanner. It has a pawl acting with the internal toothing of a rim at the spanner end. The pawl is located in the recess of a rotor, freely turnable within the rim. There are elements to engage with the toothing, and elements for direction reversal, using a freely turnable cap section, to reverse the direction of the rotor drive. The drive mechanism has two independent pawls (9a) in the shape of toothed rim segments. Both are pressed with radial surfaces (14, 43) against the flat section of the rotor (5) by a C-shaped spring (15). The spring ends support themselves on opposite radial surfaces of the pawls. The direction reversal elements consist of members (17), fastened to the cap section. The members may move the pawls out of engagement with the internal toothing (4) of the rim (3). Locking elements (27) are independent of the reversal elements.
