Abstract

1365586 Wells &c DRESSER INDUSTRIES INC 27 Jan 1972 [1 Feb 1971] 3839/72 Heading E1F A tubular slip 80 pivoted at 36 on a well tool (a well packer, Fig. 1, not shown) is held in the position shown to pass through the well casing 82 by a part of the tool engaging a flat 84 on the slip and has casing engaging portions 8, 9 forced into engagement with the casing by pressure of another part of the tool on a slip part 39. The portions have teeth which in the section shown have crests lying on a curve which may be circular or parabolic. The teeth on the portions 8, 9 are respectively cut about axis 73, 94. The slip is suitable for use in a range of casings having the same O.D. but different thickness since the curve may be chosen so that the angle between a tooth in contact with the casing and the horizontal remains constant when the slip is used in the range. Reference has been directed by the comptroller to Specification 1265868.
