Abstract

L'invention concerne le traitement thermique des matières particulaires. Elle se rapporte à un four de traitement thermique qui comprend un récipient 1 relié à une chambre 14 de réaction qui est alimentée par un préchauffeur 22. Selon l'invention, un arc 27 est formé dans le récipient 1 à l'aide d'au moins une électrode 4 qui comporte un trou axial qui transmet du gaz si bien que l'arc électrique 27 formé peut être étendu et très bien stabilisé. Application à la réduction des minerais de fer en fer ou alliage ferreux.
