Abstract

The firearm striker mechanism is particularly for hunting guns, the firing pin (1) being constantly thrust towards the muzzle end. In the rest position, either after firing or when the cartridge has been ejected, the firing pin rear end face is flush with that of the breech (3) in which it works, without ever moving further forward. In the same rest position, the pin tip only protrudes beyond the front face of the breech for the distance necessary to fire the cartridge. Any spring or other elastic device can be used to thrust the pin forward. The spring can be of the hairpin type, working in a recess formed in the rear face of the breech, while pin forward movement is limited by a lug on it, working in the recess.
