Il s'agit de la thymosine alpha 1 caractérisé par la séquence (N-Acétyl) - Ser - Asp - Ala - Ala - Val - Asp - Thr - Ser - Ser - Glu -Ile - Thr - Thr - Lys - Asp - Leu - Lys - Glu - Lys -Lys - Glu - Val - Val - Glu - Glu - Ala - Glu - Asn - OH et de ses sels utilisables en pharmacie, exempts d'autres polypeptides du thymus. Ces composés sont utiles comme médicaments.
