Abstract

L'invention concerne un frein à tambour comportant deux mâchoires 11, 12, montées sur un plateau de frein de façon à pouvoir être appliquées contre un tambour rotatif et dans lequel le jeu entre les garnitures 13 des mâchoires et le tambour est maintenu constant par un dispositif de réglage automatique. Le dispositif de réglage automatique comprend une entretoise 19 qui s'étend entre les deux mâchoires et un dispositif de verrouillage unidirectionnel 22 qui permet à la longueur utile de l'entretoise de s'accroître mais non de diminuer. Le dispositif 22 est constitué par une pince élastique qui comprend deux bras qui sont en prise sur les côtés diamétralement opposés à la nervure 20 de l'une des mâchoires 12. L'invention est applicable, notamment, aux freins de véhicules automobiles.
