Abstract

La présente invention concerne un élément plastique photochromique. Il est caractérisé par une matrice polymère contenant de nombreuses particules d'halogénure d'argent activées plus petites que 1 000 Angström, ladite matrice contenant en outre une quantité retenue de plastifiant qui donne des propriétés photochromiques désirables optimales et elle peut être enveloppée de façon hermétique pour éviter des pertes de plastifiant. L'élément photochromique plastique est fait en formant des particules d'halogénure d'argent activées en présence d'un polymère formant un film dissout dans un plastifiant et en enlevant ledit plastifiant pour produire un élément souple retenant sa forme. La présente invention est particulièrement utile pour produire des lentilles photochromiques.
