Procédé de trempe superficielle de pièces dans lequel on mélange au milieu de trempe, constitué par exemple par de l'air comprimé, un agent de refroidissement porteur de frigories, par exemple de l'azote liquide, de manière à augmenter la vitesse de trempe, à réduire la pression de sortie du milieu de trempe et, par conséquent, à atténuer le bruit d'échappement, la vitesse de trempe pouvant être maintenue constante.
