Abstract

In the ship's propulsion system with a supercharged diesel engine (1) a waste heat boiler (10) is connected to the outlet of the exhaust gas turbine (6) of the turbocharger. A heat exchanger (30), through which a heat transfer medium flows, which feeds a proportion of the compression heat of the charge air to a heat utilising unit (33) in the ship, is connected into the charge air line (5). A cooler (35), which serves for cooling of the heat transfer medium, is connected in the flow circuit (31) of the heat transfer medium. Due to the arrangement of this additional heat cycle, additional heat consumers can be supplied and the overall efficiency of the system increased.
