Abstract

The screen has a luminescent phosphor layer (3) on a transparent plate (1) over the entire tube window. Field-effect emission electrodes (7) with low emission threshold are arranged in rows and columns and emit towards the phosphor layer. Along the rows of the emission electrodes are conductive tracks (5), mutually insulated, each electrode row being connected to the respective track. A second set of conductive tracks (4), also mutually insulated, are mounted along the emission electrodes columns. The two sets of conductive tracks can be brought at a different potential each. A separate electrode runs parallel to the phosphor layer and is connected to a potential source. At intersection points opposite the emission electrode ends provide potential drops sufficient for field-effect emission.
