Abstract

The stopper is in two parts. The underneath part (1) is made from flexible material and consists of an inner cylindrical portion which fits the inside of the neck of the bottle. This portion is stiffened by means of a central boss (11). The outside skirt (10) is moulded to the outside contour of the bottle after assembly. The cover (2) is made from metal which is able to take up the contours of the neck after outside pressure has been applied. The outside edges of the cover are similar to those used on a crown cork (22).
