Abstract

The self propelled machine is for use in the highway maintenance field, uses a mechanical process to remove rubber deposits from the highway surface, and restores the surface's anti-skid properties. The machine includes a chassis mounted carriage which may be equipped with spike rollers or a disc. The chassis is mounted on wheels and propelled in any direction by a motor. The carriage has a limited displacement relative to the chassis. The rollers may be lined with rubber and the spikes take the form of studs embedded radially in the rubber. The disc may rotate about a vertical axis, and the working face is similarly equipped with studs embedded in rubber.
