Abstract

The release binding frees the skier's foot following an accident and comprises a sole plate (16) holding the ski boot, a front toggle clamp (20) pushing this against the fixed rear clamp (22). This assembly is connected to a base plate (160) fixed to the ski (14) by a strap (48). At the front of this plate is a fixed toe plate (24) having a recess locating the angled front edge (28) of the sole plate. The rear of this sole plate has a double vee angle, the apex having a recess for a spring plunger (26). This exerts the pressure retaining the sole plate onto the base plate.
