Abstract
The tank or reservoir (1) has a domed roof, constructed at floor level inside the tank. As the side wall (2) are built upwards, the roof is raised and finally fixed in position. Initially, the roof (3) rests on supports (4) inside the tank. A vertical skirt (5) is constructed under its domed surface, projecting downwards into the tank. The space is filled with water (6), air being trapped (7) under the domed surface. This is compressed by the difference in water levels until the roof weight is balanced; further filling raises the roof. An exhaust valve (8) and auxiliary air compressor (9, 10) permit fine positioning of the roof.
