Abstract
PURPOSE: To install a caisson unit on the water bottom by a simple method wherein the caisson unit closed at the head is evacuated then water is induced to the level higher than the outside water level.
CONSTITUTION: In a dock (d) the caisson unit 5 is manufactured by combining the caisson 2 of open bottom 1 with a plural number of side wall 3. Each caisson body 2 is closed at its top part 1' and equipped with a dome shaped canopy 9. Water is filled in the dock (d). The caisson unit 5 is raised afloat with the increased bouyancy obtained by air blown into each caisson body 2 throgh a pipe 4 using a pump 13. The caisson unit 5 is towed to the designated water area then stranded at the designated location and settled firmly on the bed with the force exerted by the static load of inside water that maintains its level higher than the outside resulted by the evacuation of air through a fluid pipe 4 using a pump 13. Thus, the carisson unit 5 is stably settled by the weight of water.
