Abstract

The chain conveyor (1) is intended for high temperature use and comprises links (2) joined together by transverse bar (3) passing through sleeves (3a). These are free to expand and contract laterally without affect conveyor alignment in the furnace. Each transverse bar has a side plate (22, 23) at each end, contacting guideways (27, 28) fixed to the furnace walls. Each end is also fitted with guide links (4, 5), provided with a location slot (5a) for guide plates (18) on support rollers (6). These have spring loaded end assemblies (13, 14, 16) which are self-centring and capable of absorbing transverse stresses.
