Abstract

To reduce the production and assembly costs whilst simultaneously improving the operational reliability, the understructure elements (16 to 18) are designed as cases of U-shaped profile which can slide one inside the other. Attached to the cases in each case is a guide fitting (31, 34, 37) for the end-points of the arms of the scissor-type fitting (40). At least one of the scissor-type arm end-points can slide in the guide fitting (31, 34, 37) in a direction perpendicular to the pulling-out direction (A) of the armchair and is mounted so as to be rotatable about a vertical axis. In the case of at least three understructure elements (16 to 18) all the scissor-type fittings (40) are combined to form lazy tongs.
