Abstract

The double swinging axle assembly for road vehicles is supported on a central beam or sub-chassis (A). At the end of this beam are two longitudinal support members (2) which are triangular shaped arms. Each end of the arms supports the wheel hubs (3) (4). The hubs are equidistant from a central arm pivot (B) fixed on the end of the sub-chassis (5). One or more stabilising and compensating springs (6) are fitted solid to the arm centre (2) and a fixed point at the end of the arm (1). The central pivot (B) consists of a tube at each end of which are mounted roller bearings on a shaft forced into the tube.
