Abstract

The distribution system provides instantaneous hot water at points on the closed loop. It comprises a steam heated tank using water passing through a main vertical riser. Primary take-off points have pressure regulators; except for the highest, the system being balanced to this. Taps are fitted into secondary take-off points on the primaries and these secondaries return into the vented down pipe returning to the collector tank. Flow into this pipe is metered through orifice plates and the collector tank has a level indicator. The water is pumped back into the heating tank. Cold make-up water is supplied under pressure.
