Abstract

A hollow tubular handle (1) is connected to a portable tool driven by an internal combustion engine. A grip (7) at one end of the handle can be rotated by the hand holding the handle to control the engine. The grip is attached to a plug (4) in the end of the hollow handle. The plug has an external collar (5) which locates it axially and a cylindrical extension (10) running inside the hollow handle (1). The extension has a transverse slot (11) through most of its length dividing it into upper and lower parts (12, 13). Each of these has a lug (14, 15) at one section which provides a bearing on the inside surface of the hollow handle. The further end (16) of the extension is connected to the engine control.
