Abstract

The handles of pruning shears are extended by fitting a tube (3) over the end of the handle (6). This extension tube can be locked in any desired position by means of a roller (12) mounted on an eccentric shaft (9) which fits in an eccentric hole (8) in a plug (7) fitted into the end of the handle (6). The roller is initially aligned so that it is concentric with the plug and is thus fitted into the tube without difficulty. The handle is then given a sharp twist which causes the roller to spin on its eccentric shaft until it becomes wedged against the wall of tube.
