Abstract

The terminal pin, for the bared end of a wire, consists of a metal tube (2b) deformed in three regions (A,B,C) to grip the wire end (1a). Each deformed or crimped region has a rectangular (or oval) cross-section and has its longer sides at right angles to its neighbour's longer sides. An insulating sleeve (2c) is attached to the end of the metal tube and extends a short distance over the wire's insulating mantle (1b) in order to cover any exposed length of wire. The pin is deformed using a special tool and can be rapidly plugged into a suitable socket.
