Abstract

The multi-pin connector has electrodes pressed out from thin metal sheet and then folded into their final shape which is designed to minimise damage and distortion during handling and use. The section of the electrode (3) accepting the male terminal is a complete cylinder and may have short longitudinal inward facing wings (8) to improve contact. The cylinder is continued into a narrow tube (4) which then expands into a bulb (5) which itself leads to an orthodox conductor gripping U-shaped section (20). The male terminal is similarly formed, the neck and expanded sections serving in both cases to trap the electrodes within a ribbed casing.
