Abstract

The hardening agent is obtd. by combining (a) a liq. mixt. of water and a gelling agent; with (b) an aq. soln. of waster-glass contg. a gelling agent. The gelling agents consist of esters, aldehydes, inorganic acids, organic acids, inorganic salts, organic salts, cement, or the hydraulic components in cement. Liq. (a) can be aq. soln. or a cement suspension. The ester is pref. a fatty acid ester, a carbonate, and a lactone, whereas the aldehyde is pref. a dialdehyde. The two liqs. (a, b) may also be injected separately into the ground. In an example, liq. (a) consisted of 50 litres water contg. 10 kg cement and 1 kg of bentonite and liq. (b) consisted of 33.5 1 water, 15 1 water-glass, and 1.5 ethylene-glycol diacetate.
