Abstract

The conical valve head (14) seats on the bore of a bush (13) mounted on the axis of the flow passage (2,4) in the body (1) and is fixed on the end of a lever arm (15). A disc (17) supports the arm at right angles to the flow line and a seal between the two is formed by a thin central cap (22), allowing the arm some small swinging movement. The main supports between arm and disc are formed by two metal hinge links connecting the disc to another (18) fixed to the arm a little further along. Beyond the second disc the arm is extended (8) within the actuator chamber. Servo fluid pressure on a diaphragm mounted in the chamber transmits a lateral force to the end of the arm, the force being resisted by a return spring (32) mounted between the end of the arm and the support disc.
