Abstract

The mechanism allows the accelerator of a vehicle to be stopped at a desired position. A spring (12) is fixed to the arm (13) by swivel (15) and its other end joins a link (16), in turn connected to a flexible cable (17) carried in an outer casing (19) and supported by a bracket (20) on the vehicle body. The end of the cable joins a control on the dashboard. The cable and spring exert a braking force on pedal movement but further foot pressure can overcome this.
