A motor vehicle brake system includes a pivotally mounted brake pedal 1 operatively connected to a push rod 10, forming an input member of a forwardly mounted brake servo 2, by a tensile link 4 which is pivotally connected to the brake pedal and to one arm 8 of a pivotally mounted double-armed lever 7 the other arm of which is pivotally connected to the rod 10. The link 4 may be a rod or a cable with a flexible outer casing, and the pedal may be laterally offset with respect to the lever 7.
