Abstract
Control is claimed for the drive of cutting equipment used in the ceramic industry for subdividing an endless clay extrusion into mouldings by separate cuts at adjustable distance, by (a) driving the cutting equipment by a motor the angular velocity of which can be adjusted electrically or electronically, (b) providing the drive motor with a control or regulating device for adjusting the position of the cutting carriage of the cutting device or the angular velocity of the main drive shaft coupled mechanically to that device, in such a way that a relationship is produced between the position of the cutting carriage and the advance of the clay extrusion. Pref. the speed of advance of the extrusion is measured by the angle of rotation of a measuring wheel running on this extrusion. Gives improved synchronisation of the cutting carriage motion and the speed of extrusion so that a cutting length of e.g. 250 mm with a tolerance of 0.1 mm can be achieved.
