Abstract

The dividing head consists of a stationary casing and support frame in which is mounted a pivoting casing. This casing contains a shaft holding the workpiece support point. There are locking screws to hold the casing stationary and a friction collar and screw to clamp the shaft. A gear on this shaft engages with a transversely mounted worm gear driven by a train of gears. This worm gear is mounted in a location which can rotate within the pivoting casing. The device can be used to transmit drive from the machine tool to the workpiece or can be used to precisely adjust angles using adjustments of the type having a plate with many holes through it and a locking pin.
