Abstract

The boom attachment has a transversel centre portion (1a) fixed permanently in a horizontal posn. At each end is a side portion (1b), hinged onto the centre by a pivot (4) set back from the end. This hinge is a plate (6) with side cheeks and a stiffener (7) between. The rod of a hydraulic cylinder (5) is fitted to the hinge, the cylinder itself being fixed on the centre portion. An adjustable stabilising rod (8) guides and secures each side portion in both the extended and folded conditions. When folded, the side portions are back from the centre portion and the amt. of overhang is reduced.
