Abstract

1416090 Guiding arrangements R J DENNIS 10 Oct 1973 [11 Oct 1972] 47374/73 Heading B8B An anchor boom 10 for guiding the anchor rope 35 and shank 34 of an anchor as it is raised, and for housing the anchor once raised, comprises a guide arm 12 having rollers 30, 31 between which the rope and shank pass, and a mounting bracket 11 secured to a clip 16, and having a guide roller 28, the arm 12 and bracket 11 being pivotally connected at 20 for movement between a relatively angled arrangement for receiving the rope and top of the shank 34, and an in-line arrangement for receiving the whole of the anchor shank. The weights of the anchor and the guide arm 12 normally produce the angled relation between the bracket 11 and arm 12 with the edges 23, 24 thereof in abutment, and the in-line arrangement is produced by the tension in the rope 35 acting on the lever arm of the anchor shank 34 extending up beyond the pivot 20. The rear end of the bracket 11 is provided with a removable pin 36 for locking the shank 34 in the horizontal position once the in-line arrangement of the bracket 11 and arm 12 is produced.
