Abstract

The boom comprises a fixed centre section which is attached to a tractor. Each side of this centre section is an arm, made up of two pivoted sections (3, 11) and extending horizontally outwards in use. Each end is supported on wheels (4, 5). When required for travelling purposes, each arm can be raised into an approximately vertical position, the two sections lying parallel with the common pivot (2) at the top. A single hydraulic cylinder is mounted vertically (15) on the centre section and operates a cable running over pulleys.
