Abstract

The attachment fits behind a tractor and is supplied with maize cobs by means of an elevator (15). The cobs drop onto a platform having several rows of rollers (21, 23). These are covered with rubber and are in pairs, each rotating opposite to its neighbour. The rollers contact each other and the cobs are pushed along the valleys for the husks to be removed by pinching. Other rollers (28) are mounted overhead, these being at right angle and having flexible arms (29) to assist the movement of the cobs. The pusher (32) reciprocates over the rubber rollers and the dehusked cobs (19) fall into a bin (14).
