Abstract

In the reheating of feed water from an electrical energy unit associated with an installation for gas compression, (part of) the feed water is passed in heat exchange with the gas which has undergone compression. Pref. the intermediate fluid is water. The process enables max. electrical energy to be removed by reducing or suppressing, in normal operation, the bleeding of the turbine. The expansion turbine drives an alternator and the exhaust steam is condensed by external cooling water. The condensate is delivered by a pump either to heat exchangers or to both sets of exchangers via the appropriate valve.
