Abstract
In the mfr. of metal granules, the melting residues and/or dross is subjected to milling and then fed through a calibrating slot into a classifier with a reduced air pressure and circulation of ar, the metal granules being removed from the upstream section of the classifier while being exposed to a counter current of air drawn into the classifier by the low pressure zone. The quality of the granules if pref. controlled by the pressure and circulation in the low pressure zone. the pref. plant includes a hammer mill in which the grid has been replaced by a calibrated slot leading to a horizontal classifier followed by a filter and suction fan which creates the reduced air pressure. Spherical metal granules are obtd. at low cost due to the use of scrap materials, e.g. the recovery or zinc in dross arising from the melting of Zn cathodes.
