Abstract
861,167. Respiratory appliances. BRITISH SHOTBLAST & ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. May 6, 1959 [May 7, 1958], No. 14577/58. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group VII] A respiratory helmet for operators of shot and sand blasting machines is made from vulcanized rubber sheet mounted on an inner frame B secured to the helmet by a nut on the screwed shank of an air inlet pipe C which passes through the helmet and frame, the helmet including a member b for supporting the helmet on the head. Sheet rubber is worked and cut to the required helmet shape on a metal jig so that adjacent edges of the sheet overlap, the shaped sheet is then vulcanized to form the helmet A and outer and inner aprons D, D<SP>1</SP> are secured by rivets to a band B<SP>1</SP> inside the helmet. The frame B may be made of leather and comprises U-shaped strips which overlap at the crown and have their free ends connected to an endless band b<SP>5</SP> to which the head support b is connected.
