Abstract

Device for treating a moving metal band or strip, using a strip guidance unit directly adjacent to the inlet of the treatment zone and an induction heating device with a channel along which the strip travels. The strip guide unit and the induction heating device are combined into one unit and possess two opposed inductors providing transverse flux and carrying the strip guides. The gap between the opposed inductors is pref. adjustable and the inductor assembly can pref. be moved towards or away from the treatment zone. The strip guides pref. consist of rollers rotating on vertical and horizontal axes, and the combined unit is pref. preceded by a longitudinal induction heater used to preheat the strip. Used for the continuous heating or steel strip, e.g. for heat-treatment; heating prior to hot rolling or other mechanical working; or heating before pickling; the vapour depositing of metal coatings; gas chroming; polymer coating etc.
