Abstract

The moving-coil loudspeaker consists of a conical membrane (1) with a coil mounted on its stem encircling the central pole (10) and itself encircled by the outer permanent magnet (7). The membrane is aligned by centering elements (2). The poles are mounted on a base plate that forms an extension of the central pole. To prevent the membrane stem from being driven hard against the base plate --- resulting in damage to the speaker -- elastic buffers (4a) are fixed onto the plate around the base of the central pole. The stem of the membrane comes against this soft buffer rather than against the hard base plate.
