Abstract

An exterior masonry structure of a building is formed from building blocks which are connected to one another by mortar and into which an insulating panel (1) consisting of heat-insulating material is introduced. Said insulating panel (1) projects in a ridge-like manner beyond the upper building-block side (3) by the thickness of the mortar layer, while the insulating panel (1) terminates flush with the lower side (8) of the building blocks. The insulating panels (1) are arranged off-centre in the building blocks. At their lower side (8), the building blocks have a longitudinal groove (9) which, relative to the longitudinal central plane (2) of the building block, is arranged symmetrically to the insulating panel (1) with the result that, during storage and transportation of the building blocks, when the latter are turned by 180 DEG relative to their position in the masonry structure, the projecting portions of the ridge tops (4) fit in said longitudinal grooves (9).
