Abstract

A ski brake has a U shaped rod with a spindle which pivots in bearing brackets on the sides of the ski. The open end of the rod forms the brake arms which dig into the snow to ommobilise the ski and which are biased into this position by coil springs at the sides of the ski. Each spring has anextended end pressing against a rod arm and forcing it against a stop. Pressure is still exerted when the brake is fully down and is removed, and the brake retracted, by pressing down the closed end of the rod with a boot.
