Abstract

A mattress support strip is joined to bed frame side members whose upper portions are smaller than the lower portions. Square cutouts in the top face of each member locate plastic moulded caps over the ends of the strip, leaving a small clearance. Each strip, of laminated wood, has a flat underface and a ribbed top face with beaded edges. Under no load conditions the strips each have an upward curvature. When in use, each strip flexes individually to suit the posture of the occupant.
