Abstract

Mattresses comprising polyether or polyester foam and upholstery springs are formed by first joining the springs assembled in rows to supporting strips of flexible elastic material and then glueing the strips to sheet of foam of the dimensions of the mattress. The springs are pref. attached at the ends by means of loops to the supporting strips, and the lateral supporting stripes fixed e.g. adhesively between the upper and lower edged of the mattress. The assembly is usually covered with heavy synthetic or other fabric. The mattresses are lighter, more resistant to deformation and more comfortable inuse, than prior art.
