Abstract

A bed of simple but strong construction, that is easy to manufacture and capable of adapting to body contours to give maximum comfort. The support system can also be applied to easy chairs and similar furniture requiring support for the occupant. A rectangular frame with two sides (1, 2) a head (3) and foot (4) has a number of slats of wood, metal or plastic (5), spaced regularly across its width. These are fastened to the sides of the frame by straps (6) made of elastic material and adjustable to give the necessary flexibility. The slats can be covered with material to form a mattress cover.
