Abstract

1291263 Upholstery; hammocks VITAFOAM Ltd 7 Sept 1970 [11 Sept 1969] 44992/69 Headings A4J and A4M [Also in Division A6] A diaphragm, for use as a load support in seats, beds, hammocks or trampolines or as a load carrying platform, comprises a sheet of elastically deformable material e.g. rubber, formed with a plurality of side by side rows of staggered elongate, longitudinally spaced slots 19 which open out when the diaphragm is distended for anchoring to a supporting frame. Outermost slots 19 may include projections 24 between which a frame anchoring hook (15), Fig. 2 (not shown) may be engaged. The diaphragm, Fig. 4, may include one or more slotted parts P and one or more unslotted parts 25, and the latter may be substantially inextensible. Holes 30 in a thickened portion 29 receive frame anchoring members. The slots 50, Fig. 8, may have inwardly curved sides. Outermost slots 50 include a groove 51 to locate on anchoring hook. The diaphragm may include regions (56, 58) Fig. 11 (not shown) with mutually inclined sets of slots.
