Abstract

A flat metal sheet is stamped with the selected shape for the rear suspension support, complete with holes for the attachments. The top and bottom edges (21, 22) are bent over and fitted with bearing sleeves for the suspension elements. These sleeves are simply welded to the frame. The lateral stability of the frame is obtained by bending side flanges (1) over at either end and welding the edges to the sides of the top and bottom flanges. The frame is strong, light and compact and requires no complicated castings, forging and machining, only simple stamping and seam welding.
