Abstract

The machine has a printing mechanism for the labels as they are indexed forward, comprising a drum with embossed characters on its cylindrical face and an inking device. An easily removable cartridge holder (9) has one end near the drum (54) and the other accommodating the inking cartridge with roller (11). A spring presses the roller against the characters on the drum. The cartridge holder can be mounted on a pivot pin (10) parallel to the drum axis, having spring-loaded claws (15, 23) by which it grips the pin, these claws being released by pinching grips (14, 36) together. The end of the holder accommodating the cartridge can be hammerhead-shaped, engaging in a mating groove cut in the cartridge.
