Abstract

A plastics cover or retention band, primarily intended for medical applications for retaining dressings and belts in position, has a central perforated section with its ends connected to two transverse rigid members (1). The cover is retained in position by integral hooks (5) projecting from these members and angled inwardly towards the opposite ends of the band at an angle of 45 deg. approximately. The tapered triangular section hooks may be moulded with longitudinal and transverse flanges to ensure their rigidity when under load. In use, the hooks penetrate the material without damage and when the band is under tension the inward angling of the hooks ensures that the tension is maintained and the band does not become detached inadvertently.
