Abstract

The subject of the invention is a bandage pin used for fastening together bandages and other bandaging material when wrapping injured parts of the body. Its constructional solution enables simple, reliable, aesthetic and firm fixing of bandage or compress ends to the wound up part. The invention belongs to the first aid kit equipment. The main feature of the constructional solution of the bandage pin is as follows: the main part (1) which has the shape of a thin ring extends into two side parts (2 and 3), side part (2) of semicircular shape with a round hole (2a) and two side holes (2b), side part (2) has a folded edge (2c) with anchors on it (2d), side part (3) is the mirror image of side part (2). There exist further 27 variants of the bandage pin. They are made of elastic material.

Description

BANDAGE PIN
The subject of the invention belongs to the general necessaries of life or more precisely to the first aid kit equipment. According to the international patent classification the invention belongs to the A 6 IF 17/00 class.
The technical problem of the bandage pin is the constructional solution which due to its form shall enable simple and reliable fastening of all kinds of bandages and textile compresses used for the bandaging of injuries or wounds, irrespective of the body part, on which the bandage end is to be fastened to the wound up bandage. The pin construction must be such as to enable the patient to adjust the bandaged part of the body to his movements, from the hygienic point of view it should be very clean and have no negative effects during and after the application, and finally it is to join two ends made of two different fabrics aesthetically. The pin must be of simple design so as to be manufactured in large quantities.
We are familiar with bandage pins which have an elastic part in the middle and a metal part with anchors on each side to fix the bandage and other bandaging material with respectively. The disadvantage of such a pin is that it is made of two different materials and that they are for its elastic part hygjenically questionable. The manufacture of such a pin is demanding as the elastic ends are to be well caught into the metal part. The lifetime of that pin is relatively short, cspecially if being used on a body part which due to the movement causes irregular pressure of the joining pin parts and deforms them.
The main improvement of the invented bandage pin used for fastening bandages and other bandaging material wrapped around injured body parts are two semicircular parts with fixing anchors placed longitudinally on each side of the main ring. There exist twenty seven more variants of the bandage pin. The first has on the main ring four side parts, the second has on the main ring only one side part with fixing anchors, whereas the third has on the main ring one side part with anchors on the outside of the ring and one side part with a connecting part and without anchors in the inside of the ring.

The bandage pin invented for fastening bandages and other bandaging material wrapped around injured body parts consists of the main part 1 which has a shape of a thin ring connected on the upper and lower end to side part 2 and side part 3. In the cross-section the main part 1 can be of optional shape. Side part 2 extending from part 1 is of a semicircular shape with holes 2a in the middle and two almost round holes 2b on each side. In this case the holes 2a and 2b over the anchors 2d are due to the cores in the manufacturing tools of circular shape, but can also be of other shapes. Side part 2 has a semicircular folded edge 2c with anchors 2d. Side part 3 is the mirror image of side part 1 (see figures 1, 2 and 3).
The main part 1 of the bandage pin assures high bearing strength and relative elasticity of side part 2 and 3 which connect the end of the bandage with the rest wrapped around the body part by means of hooks 2d being anchored into the bandage and holding the two joint parts of the bandage or other material firmly together. Due to its ring shape part 1 has the function of an ordinary elastic and a spring respectively. The invented bandage pin is made of elastic material which is durable and from the hygienic point of view clean. The bandage pin can be manufactured in all sizes so as to be adjusted to the part and size of the wound up injury. The variant I bandage pin has four side parts 5 arranged proportionally around its round shaped main part 4. These side parts 5 are of the same shape as side parts 2 and 3. This pin has good mechanical characteristics, since the pressure in one direction is equally distributed to three side parts and is therefore suitable to be used on bandaged body parts which are exposed to stretching forces more frequently and where it is difficult to fasten the end of the bandage or other materials firmly to the wound up body part.

The bandage pin is designed so as to assure high bearing strength and elasticity of the rings 11 and 12 coming out of the connecting part 13. Their side parts 14 and 15 fasten the end of the bandage to the bound up bandage part in such a way that the anchors 14c of part 9 hold the bandage and create an extremely firm joint of both compress or bandage parts being fastened together. The rings 11 and 12 with the connecting part 13 have the function of an ordinary elastic and a spring respectively.
The variant V bandage pin consists of a main part in the shape of a ring 18 with two almost round parts 18a with the center in the horizontal axis. In the vertical projection the main part 18 has in its side parts 19 and 20 round holes 18b and 18c (see figure 10). Side part 19 is of semicircular shape with round holes 19a and anchors 19b. As for the shape side part 20 is the mirror image of side part 19. The pin has very good mechanical characteristics since the pressure is equally distributed between the elastic parts 18a, 18b and 18c. This pin is suitable for those body parts which are exposed to movements more frequently and where it is difficult to assure elasticity of the place where the compress or bandage end is fastened to the bound-up part.
The variant VI bandage pin intended for fastening together bandages and compresses when bandaging injuries consists basically of two semicircular thin rings 21 and 22 which have in the middle a connecting part 23 (see figure 10). Side part 24, a thin semicircular ring with a folded edge 24a and anchors 24b extends from the upper ring 21. Side part 25 extends from the lower ring 22 and is the mirror image of side part 24. In the cross-section the rings 21 and 22 can be of any shape. This bandage pin is suitable for bandaging wounds on relatively movable body parts whereas it is not suitable for major pressures.
The variant VII bandage pin consists of a main part 26 in the shape of a hollow ellipsis and two identical side parts 27 and 28 of semicircubr shape at each end. Side part 27 has one hole (27a) in the middle and two holes 27b on the sides. At the end of the folded edge of side part 27 there are anchors 27c (see figure 12).
The variant VHI bandage pin has two main parts 29 and 30 slightly rounded off which are on the left and right side tcrrninatcd by two almost circular rings 31 and 32. Part 29 extends in the middle into side part 33 which is of semicircular shape and has in the middle a round hole 33a and two holes on the sides 33b. On the folded edge of side part 33 there are anchors 33c. In the middle the lower main part 30 extends into side part 34 which is a mirror image of side part 33 (see figure 13).
The variant IX bandage pin consists of part 35 in the shape of an overturned letter U on one side and its mirror image 36 on the other side (horizontal projection). Side part 37 extends from the upper ends of parts 35 and 36, whereas side part 38 from the lower ends of parts 35 and 36, both with three hooks in the inside 37a and 38a (see figure 14).
The variant X bandage pin consists of part 39 on the right and its mirror image part 40 on the left, both of concave shape and extending into side parts 41 and 42 with hooks 41a and 42a (See figure 15).
The variant XI bandage pin consists of a spiral-shaped main part 43 which by way of an intermediate part 43b in the middle of the lower end extends into a side part 45. Side part 45 has a folded edge with hooks 45a. At the upper end the main part 43 extends over the perpendicular transitional part 43a in the middle into the side part 44 with hooks 44a on the folded edge (see figure 16).
The variant XII bandage pin consists of three oval rings 46 which are by way of joints 46a connected into a whole and at the upper and lower end extending into side parts 47 and 48 with hooks 47a and 48a on the folded edges (see figure 17). The variant XHI bandage pin has a main part 49 consisting of rhomboid links 49a. In the upper half there is a semicircular side part 50 with hooks 50a on the folded edge. In the lower half of the main part there is also a side part 51 with hooks 51a on the folded edge (see figure 18).
T e variant XTV bandage pin has two parallel zigzag shaped parts 52 and 53 with a slight gap in the middle. At one end parts 52 and 53 extend into a semicircular side part 54 with hooks 54a on the upper folded edge, at the other end parts 52 and 53 extend into side part 55 which also has hooks 55a on the folded edge (see figure 19).
Ihe variant XV bandage pin has a main part 56 consisting of rhomboid links 56a. In the middle of the last link 56a there is an almost rectangular part 57a connecting the link with a side part 57, which has almost the shape of a T-letter with one hook 57b horizontally at each end of side part 57. In the middle of the first link 56a there is side part 58 the shape of which is the mirror image of side part 57. The difference between this pin and the ones described previously is that this one has no folded edges (see figure 20).
The variant XVI bandage pin consists basically of two thin semicircular rings 59 and 60 with their horizontal parts in the middle connected with a joint 63. The side part 61 almost in the shape of letter T and extending from the upper end of ring 59 has one hook 61a at each end of its horizontal side. Side part 62 extends from the middle of the lower ring 60 and is the mirror image of side part 61 (see figure 21). This pin has also folded edges.
The variant XNπ bandage pin consists basically of a thin ring 64 with two hooks 64a in the inside (horizontal axis) and two side parts 65 and 66 extending from the ring 64. Side part 65 with the shape of a full semicircle has its upper end with three hooks 65b and one oval hole 65a folded. Side part 66 is the mirror image of side part 65 (see figure 22). The variant XVTII bandage pin is basically a thin oblong oval frame 67 with two side parts 68 and 69. Side part 68 has a short connecting part which is extended in a semicircular shape. At the lower horizontal end of side part 68 there are two hooks with extremely sharp points and semicircular notches on each side of the hooks. The notch of the hook 68a is deepened along the edge in order to additionally hold the bandaging material. The upper edge of side part 68 is nearly leveled and not folded. Side part 69 is the mirror image of side part 68 (see figure 23).
The variant XIX bandage pin is an almost rectangular frame 70 with a crossbar 71 in the middle and two side parts 72 and 73. Side part 72 is connected to crossbar 71 over a small almost rectangular part which is extended into a Larger rectangular part with hooks having very sharp points 72a. Side part 72 fills up almost the whole inner space between the frame 70 and the crossbar 71. Side part 73 is the mirror image of side part 72 (see figure 24).
The variant XX bandage pin has in the inside of the oval frame 74 a side part 75 with five sharp hooks 75a. The other side part 76 is the mirror image of side part 75 (see figure 25). This pin enables effective fastening and is a substitute for an ordinary safety-pin.
The variant XXI bandage pin has in the inside of its basic ring 77 irregularly distributed hooks 77a. In the upper part is side part 78 of semicircular shape with a round hole 78a in the middle and two almost round side holes 78b. The anchors 78c are on the folded edges of side part 78 (see figure 26).
The variant XXII bandage pin has in the inside of the semicircular ring 79 short hooks 79a and a semicircular side part 79b with round holes 79c and anchors 79d (see figure 27).
The variant XXIEI bandage pin basically consists of an oblong frame 80 which has at the top a slightly convex shaped edge with upper hooks 80a and 80b and lower hooks 89c inside and a round plate 89d (see figure 28). The round plate is used for holding the pin when stretching it and fixing the hooks into the bandage so as to prevent the bandage to get unwound.
The main part of the variant XXTV bandage pin is a frame consisting of an upper part 81 and a lower part 82, both with inner hooks 81a and 82a and two oval parts 83 and 84. (See figure 29).
Characteristic for the variant XXV bandage pin are the side parts 85 and 86 with hooks 85a and 86a. They are connected with almost round rings 87 and 88. (See figure 30).
The variant XXVI bandage pin basically consists of a round ring 89 with short hooks 89a inside which are symmetrical with regard to the vertical axis (see figure 31).
The variant XXVII bandage pin is characteristic for its main side of the frame 90 slightly extending outwards into part 91, the outer edge of which is of a slightly convex shape and has hooks 19a with extremely sharp points in the inside (see figure 32).
The constructional solution of the bandage pin enables simple and cheap manufacturing in large series with standard machine tools intended for different elastic materials. The common characteristic of almost all the bandage pins is that they are symmetrical with regard to the horizontal or vertical axis. Due to its characteristic shape the bandage pin can be well adjusted to the movements of all the wound up body parts and the pressure equally distributed. Therefore the lifetime of the new bandage pin is extremely long.

Claims

PATENT CLAIMS
1. The bandage pin used to fasten bandages and compresses when bandaging injured body parts, it is claimed, the main part (1) which has the shape of a thin ring extends into two side parts, one at the upper end (2) the other at the lower end (3), and the side part (2) is of semicircular shape, has round holes (2a) in the middle and two side holes (2b) of an almost round shape, and side part (2) has an edge folded in the form of a semicircle (2c) with anchors (2d), and side part (3) is the mirror image of side part (2), and all parts are made of elastic material.

The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, it consists of two semicircular thin rings (11 and 12) with a connecting part in the middle (13), and side part (14) extending from the upper ring (11) and side part (15) extending from the lower ring (12) have in the middle an almost round hole (16 and 17). and in the cross-section the rings (11 and 12) are of optional shape, side part (14) has the form of a semicircle with holes (14a) parallel to the edge, the holes (14a) are above the anchors (14c) which are at the end of the folded edge ( 14b), and side part (15) is the mirror image of side part (14).

The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, the main part (18) with the shape of a ring consists of two almost round parts (18a) on the horizontal axis, whereas on the vertical axis there is a round hole (18b) extending into side part (19) and a round hole (18c) extending into side part (20). and side part (19) is of semicircular shape an has a round hole (19a) on each side and anchors (19b), and side part (20) is the mirror image of side part (19).
7. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, it consists of two semicircular thin rings (21 and 22) with a connecting part (23) in the middle, and the upper ring (21) extends into side part (24) which is a thin semicircular ring with a folded edge (24a) and anchors (24b), and the lower ring (22) extends into side part (25) which is the mirror image of side part (24).
8. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, the main part (26) which has the shape of a hollow ellipse extends into two identical semicircular side parts (27 and 28), and side part (27) has in the middle a round hole (27a) and two side holes (27b), at the end of the folded edge of side part (27) there are anchors (27c).
9. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1. it is clime, it consists of two main parts (39 and 40) slightly rounded off which are terminated on the left and right side by an almost round ring (31 and 32), and the middle of part (29) extends into a semicircular side part (33) with a hole (33a) in the middle and two side holes (33b), and at the end of the folded edge of the side part (33) there are anchors (33c), the middle of the main part (30) extends into side part (34) which is the mirror image of side part (33).
10. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1. it is clime, in the horizontal section part (35) has the form of an overturned letter U and part (36) on the other side is the mirror image of part (35), and the upper ends of part (35) and (36) extend into side part (37) with three hooks (37a) inside, and the lower ends of parts (35) and (36) extend into side part (38) which also has three hooks (38a) inside.
11. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, it consists of two identical parts (39 and 40) of concave shape in the middle which extend into part (41) and (42) and have hooks (41a and 42a) inside.
12. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, it consists of a main spiral-shaped part (43) with a joint (43b) at the lower end to be connected with side part (45), and this has a folded edge with hooks (45a), and the upper end of the spiral (43) extends in the middle by way of a rectangular joint into side part (44) which also has hooks on the folded edge (44a).
13. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, it consists of three oval rings (46) connected through joints (46a) to the side parts (47 and 48), and both side parts (47 and 48) have hooks (47a and 48a) on their folded edges.
14. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, the main part (49) consists of rhomboid links (49a), and at the upper end it extends into side part (50) which has the shape of a semicircle with hooks (50 a) on its folded edge, whereas at the lower end it extends into side part (51), also with hooks (51a) on the folded edge.

The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, it consists of two identical parallel parts (52 and 53) of zigzag shape having a small gap in the middle, and at both ends of parts (52 and 53) there are the side parts (54 and 55) of semicircular shape with hooks (54 a and 55a) on the folded edges.

The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, the main part (56) consists of rhomboid-shaped links (56a), and in the middle of the last link (56a) there is an almost rectangular joint (57a) connecting the main part (56) to side part 57 which has the shape of letter T and one hook (57b) on each side of the horizontal side of part (57), the first link (57a) is connected to side part (58), the mirror image of side part (57).
17. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, it consists of two thin semicircular rings (59 and 60), in the horizontal section they are in the middle connected by a joint (63), and the upper ring (59) extends into side part 61 which has almost the shape of letter T and one hook on each side (61a), and the lower ring (60) extends in the middle into side part (62), the mirror image of side part (61).
18. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, it consists of a thin round ring (64) with two hooks (64a) in the middle (horizontal axis) and extending into two side parts (65 and 66), and side part (65) is a full semicircle with a folded edge having three hooks (65b) and one oval hole (65a), and side part (66) is the mirror image of side part (65).

The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, it consists of a main oblong frame (67) extending into two side parts (68 and 69), the first (68) has a short connecting joint extended in a semicircular shape, and on the lower horizontal edge of side part (68) there are on the left and on the right side too hooks (68a) with extremely sharp points and cut-in semicircular notches on each side of them, the upper edge of side part (68) is almost levelled, and side part (69) is the mirror image of side part (68).
20. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, the main part is an almost rectangular frame (70) with a crossbar (71) in the middle and two side parts (72 and 73), and side part (72) is connected to the crossbar (71) by way of a small almost rectangular part extending into a larger rectangular part with hooks (72a) having sharp points, and the side part nearly fills the inside between the crossbar (71) and the frame (70), and side part (73) is the mirror image of side part (72).
21. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, in the inside of the oval frame (74) there are two identical side parts (75 and 76) each having five hooks (75a) with veiy sharp points.
22. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, in the inside of the main ring (77) there are irregularly distributed hooks (77a) and the upper end of part (77) extends into side part (78), and this is of semicircular shape with a round hole (78a) in the middle and two almost round holes (78b) on each side, and on the folded edge of part (78) there are anchors (78c).
23. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, in the inside of the semicircular ring (79) there are small hooks (79a) and a semicircular side part (79b) with round holes (79c) and anchors (79d).
24. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, the main part is an oblong frame (80) with a slightly convex-shaped upper edge and upper hooks (80a and 80b) and lower hooks (80c) inside, the frame extends into a round plate (80d).
25. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, the main part is a frame consisting of the upper part (81) and the lower part (82), and both with hooks (81a and 82a) inside and of two oval parts (83 and 84).
26. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, parts (85 and 86) with hooks (85a and 86a) are connected by almost round rings (87 and 88).
27. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1, it is clime, the main part is a ring (89) with small hooks (89a) inside.
28. The characteristics of the bandage pin according to clime 1. it is clime, the main side of the frame (90) extends gradually outwards into part (91 ), which has a slightly convex-shaped upper edge and hooks (91a) with extremely sharp points inside.
