Abstract

Dehydration of manure and animal refuse is new by a preliminary extn. at low press. and at a temp. below that of their spontaneous inflammation of combustible fermentation gases, and the contiguous action of a current of hot air and ultrasonic waves and/or microwaves along the track of the manure, in which the manure is mixed, before the above treatment, with >=1 non-denaturing fertilizer with a relatively low moisture level, in proportions to give a moisture level suitable for the above treatment, one of these non-denaturing fertilizer products being dry dusts entrained in the current of hot air drying the manure which is collected and used while still hot. The preliminary removal of fermentation gases leaves a very moist manure. The present process gives a manure with an optional moisture content of about 60% suitable for granulation.
